Our Growing with Brock research labs are located in the Lifespan Institute on the 5th and 6th floor of the Plaza Building. These research spaces are family friendly and accessible.
Before your visit
A member of one of our labs will communicate with you by email or phone to coordinate your visit. Growing with Brock works around your family's schedule! We will confirm a time and date that work best for you, and all information you need before your session.
When you arrive on campus, you can follow the 'Lifespan' signs next to Cairns Complex (incl. pic for parking) to find our free parking spots for participants.
A research assistant will meet you at your vehicle and escort you to our lab!
Before your session, you will spend some time in one of our labs' cozy waiting rooms.
For children, we have fun toys and games. They are given a chance to warm up to the environment before their session begins.
At this time, you have the opportunity to read over the consent form for your study and ask research assistants any questions you might have!
During the Session
For Children: Once you and your child agree to begin the session, a research assistant will invite your child to join them in the child-friendly testing room. Parents may have the opportunity to watch the session on camera from a separate viewing room. During the session, your child will complete a series of fun, game-like tasks like simon says, memory games, etc.
For Adults: Once you agree to begin your session, you'll be invited to the testing room. At this time, you'll complete the study as described in the consent form. A research assistant will be available for questions.
AFTER THE SESSION
For Children: Post-session, your child receives a toy, prize, or other form of compensation as described in the study invitation! You and your child have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
For adults: You are given the opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the study you participated in, and receive the compensation described in your study invitation.
